Think kids should be getting more time outdoors and learning the values of conservation? Well, than this interesting project promoting Environmental Education in K-12 is right up your alley. If you like the idea than lend your support by signing the petition!
“Getting hands-on environmental education back in America’s classrooms is an important part of making sure our kids will be ready to take on the complicated environmental challenges that face our communities, our nation and our planet.”

My wife, kids and I joined another family we’re friends with last year and went canoe camping up in the Adirondacks. We’re going again this year – 4 adults with 6 kids under the age of 8… Yeah, we’re a bit crazy.
Anyway, our outfitter - RAQUETTE RIVER OUTFITTERS - hooked us up with a Bell Canoe Works ‘Northshore’ and I figured I’d post a pic here. It’s as beautiful in the water as it looks in the picture. Kevlar construction, durable, light as a feather (our 21 foot canoe weighed about 40 pounds), turns on a dime!
So, if you have $4k to drop on a family canoe? This would be my hearty reccomendation! And if you have another $4k to drop on a canoe for my family than be sure to leave a comment…

More cool stuff from the folks at the National Wildlife Fund. This time it’s their BE OUT THERE project! It’s an initiative to get kids outdoors…
“Some say it takes a village to raise a child. We say: it takes a backyard, a playground, a park. Studies show outdoor time helps children grow lean and strong, enhances imaginations and attention spans, decreases aggression, and boosts classroom performance. In addition, children who spend time in nature regularly are shown to become better stewards of the environment.”
